Amplifying voices and breaking the sound barrier since 2015!

Program Dates

GRL SUMMER CAMP 2018 will be June 25th-29th at Lied Center of Kansas. The camp will conclude with an annual showcase on June 30th at Liberty Hall in downtown Lawrence. Campers will record their original songs during the day on June 30th at KJHK studio or Lawrence Public Library. Get your tickets to the showcase today!

Enrollment for summer youth camp 2018 is officially closed! GRL will notify you by April 25th about acceptance into this year's camp. Full camper tuition of $300 will be due by May 1st.

Camp is open to individuals between the age of 12-18 that identify as girls, trans, or gender non-conforming. There are no auditions or tryouts for camp and no previous musical experience is necessary!

Financial Aid

GRL accepts applications for financial assistance. Full or partial aid is available for camper families who qualify. We invite everyone to apply for Financial Aid if financial restrictions are keeping you from applying to camp. GRL will contact you by April 25th about acceptance into camp.

GRL will prioritize first time campers. The reason for this is, we hope to give as many teens as possible the opportunity to experience our camp. Our goal is to eventually offer programming throughout the year and possibly an additional camp session, which will depend on our capacity and resources. We are constantly evolving our mission to fit the needs of our community to the best of our ability. Thank you for being understanding and supportive of our process!

More CAMP info

This is a day-long week-long camp from 9AM-5PM Mon-Fri each day. The Saturday following, there will be recording slots throughout the day and the showcase in the evening. The bands are assigned based on age and instrument preference; each band is given complete creative freedom to explore original ideas and exercise their own voice in a non-competitive learning environment!  We offer engaging and empowering workshops throughout the week to help teens build self-confidence, autonomy, solidarity, and other important skills in addition to music instruction. This camp is not limited to any specific genres or styles and each band member will bring their own unique flavor to the band they form.
